Pop-ups
I installed software to get rid of pop-up ads. Now I can't access my Hotmail account (or other free online service). What should I do?
Unfortunately, several free online services, such as Hotmail, are paid for through their advertising. Disabling things like cookies or pop-up ads may also make it impossible for you to use Hotmail and other free online services.
In my case, my firewall comes with pop-up blocking capabilities. I had no choice but to completely disable this option before I could get Hotmail to work. So, you could disable your pop-up blocker for visiting Hotmail and other sites that require pop-up ads, but have them enabled the rest of the time. This is naturally a pain.
Depending on what software you use, you may be able to "tweak" your pop-up blocker settings to fix this problem. See your pop-up blocker's help and support to find out if this is possible.
