In the past, casual home PC users have viewed computers as yet another appliance, much like a TV or a toaster (i.e. plug it in, turn it on, and it works). PC security was a shadowy realm ruled by the technologically savvy computer geek, and those who talked of firewalls, hacker attacks and viruses were looked upon as overly paranoid. While the now-infamous Blaster worm (a.k.a. Lovsan) poses a serious threat to individual users, it poses an even great threat to Microsoft’s Windows Update web site ([url=http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com]windowsupdate.microsoft.com[/url]).
