Bobax-A is the latest virus to follow in the footsteps of the infamous Sasser worm that exploits a vulnerability in Microsoft’s code, fixed in their April patches. Most of these viruses can now affect your computer just because you’re on the internet — no email involved. Symantec recently released critical patches for critical flaws in some of its most popular software: Norton Internet Security and Norton Internet Security Professional 2002, 2003 and 2004; Norton Personal Firewall 2002, 2003 and 2004; Symantec Client Firewall 5.01, 5.1.1; Symantec Client Security 1.0, 1.1, 2.0(SCF 7.1) and Norton AntiSpam 2004. If your computer uses the Live Update feature, you are already protected.

Microsoft’s May Security Updates are classified as ‘Important’. The updates address a security flaw that could, if exploited, give a hacker full control of your PC. A worm called Wallon has already been detected that does just this. The Help and Support service must be enabled to be able to download the update.
